FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT BIBLE BOWL
How exactly does this operate?
The children are in teams of three to four and seated at tables. Coaches can sit behind them while the judges sit in front facing them. The kids hands are inside "doghouses" (folded over pieces of paper) which conceal their answers. The moderator reads the question twice and then says "Show your answer." The children use a answering key and disply either a, b or c to the judge who records their answers. The moderator waits for all the judges to signify the children have answered and then reveals the correct answer and the judges mark it accordingly.
How hard are the questions?
Well, the answer to that is in direct proportion to how hard the children have studied the texts.

Is the goal to get a trophy?
It is important to award achievement and we do give trophies for placing in the event. However, all the children receive a certificate for participating and we have awards for other things like Funniest Group Name or Group that Came the Farthest as well. Ultimately, the goal is to help children hide the Word of God in their hearts so eventually they can win not a trophy , but a crown of life.
The junior division begins at 6th grade; can younger children compete?
They definitely can and we encourage them to. They will be placed in the junior division.
How do I get started?
A coordinator is a must. Input and help from parents is crucial. Weekly study sessions should go on months in advance to prepare.and kids should be encouraged to read on their own as well. Some have also used audiobibles on MP3 or CD as well which is a great way to infuse scripture into the soul. Also, make it fun with online quizzes. Meetings can have snacks and prizes as well.
