WORKING TOGETHER
I have spent quite a bit of time the last few weeks making sure that things were in place and people committed to handling the parts of ministry that I am held accountable for. When each person is doing their part the body operates smoothly. There are times when others need to step up and handle some responsibility that they have depended on others to do. I anticipate being out a couple of weeks. During that time others have volunteered to teach classes, coordinate the worship services, and handle routine things of ministry. I anticipate not being able to do much for the first week, but gradually working back into a routine after that. Though I will not be in the office for a few weeks, I will have plenty of opportunity to read the half a dozen books I have purchased and to begin to work a preaching schedule for 2011.
The Transition Leadership Team met last Monday night to identify the ministries and the ministry leaders of our congregation. The ministries and ministry leaders have been divided amongst the Transition Leadership Team who will oversee the works of service being done here in Fairfield. A complete listing will be made available to the congregation in the near future.
I have witnessed a new spirit of togetherness and desire to serve in our congregation in the last year. I know you will not find people to come pull weeds, box used clothing, and steam clean carpets without having a love of the Lord and a love for each another. The community meal served on the third Saturday of each month has grown from a few women to dozens of people volunteering time each month to give a glass of water in Jesus’ name.
I ask for your prayers as I continue to recuperate from surgery, and thank all of you for your kindness, love, and compassion.

Recently several sisters traveled to Agape Villages in San Ramon to deliver 25 quilts they had made. They met Janet Kleyn, President; Dave Roach, Administrator of the Dublin offic, and Bangon Badial, Corporate Office Manager. They were informed about the wonderful work they do and were truly blessed. Click the picture to view the slideshow.
